Two-weeks of intensive Permaculture theory, practical training in horticulture, ecological building and design exercises for those who seek to persue Permaculture professionally or incorporate it into existing projects.
During the past four decades, Permaculture has grown in popularity, at which it can be seen as an employable criteria by those seeking to jump-start their careers in sustainability. Many folks are drawn to permaculutre because it offers simple solutions to the world’s complex problems such as pollution, deforestation, unsustainable resource management, poverty and the many other shortcomings of the current industrial model. A permaculture design course is a crucial first step for anyone interested in using this method in both their personal and professional lives.
Over the past ten years, we have dedicated the end of our summers to volunteer camps on our site, offering participants hands-on experience building with earth and restoring our buildings the tradional way. Now, not only do we have the vast biodiversity of the Rhodopi mountains as a classroom for a course like this, but we also have the available facilities and infrastructure to host the kind of event that has the potential to change the lives of those who attend.
The Rahovitza Slow-Tech Campus is located along a beautiful hiking trail that showcases the clean and pristine environment of our unique bioregion. Our buildings on site are examples of ecological construction, and we have also begun to plant a forest garden, which will give us the opportunity to develop the field of permaculture in the years to come.

Course contentDue to our decade of experience in natural building and our budding forest garden, the program will have a large focus on those two concepts. At the end of the course, participants recieve an official Permaculture Design Certificate, which enables them to practice permaculture professionally as a consultant, or move on to a “Permaculture Diploma” which enables them to teach such courses themselves. In addition to the certification, participants come away with valuable knowledge, experiences as well as a wider network that usually leads to more projects, more gardens, more abundance for everyone! |
